Got Ink?

I finally got my tattoo. I have been saying for years that I wanted a tattoo, I just need to decided what I wanted. No small decision right? It is going to be there for a very long time. I wanted something I wasn't going to regret in a year. I have been a Stephen King fan ever since I received It as a Christmas gift back in 1986. I remember that it was 1138 pages long (weird the shit we remember huh?) and it was the longest book I had read at the time. The design I chose for my tattoo comes from another Stephen King epic, The Dark Tower. Notice the name of my blog? I picked one of the Guardians of the Beam, the Turtle. The Turtle factors greatly in the Dark Tower series as well as It. That is how I came about my decision.

I also wanted to go to the right place. I certainly didn't want some hack putting something as permanent as a tattoo on my body. So I did some research and got some advice from others (Thanks Scott or rather Scott thank Neil for me). I settled on Fat Ram's Pumpkin Tattoo" in Jamaica Plain. The shop won the 1st and 2nd annual Weekly Dig awards for Boston's best tattoo parlor. I choose the owner, Ram, after looking through his portfolio which has some truly amazing work. I had to wait 6 months for the appointment because he is so booked but it was well worth the wait. I am very pleased with how it came out.
