Enough is enough.

Bush was on The Today Show this morning in an interview that was to coincide with the RNC. I read this on Boston.com

"When asked ''Can we win?'' the war on terror, Bush said, ''I don't think you can win it. But I think you can create conditions so that the those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world.''"

I am sure that the terrorists are very concerned with what people find "acceptable" in terms of using terrorism as a tool. Is that all it is going to take to end terrorism? Shame? Shame them into not blowing people up. Hey Osama and all the rest you know what your doing just isn't cool. Not cool at all. I find it unacceptable. So can ya stop now?

No more W. No more.

Peace out.

Timing is everything.

This story from Boston.com got me thinking. Timing is everything. Every little decision you make through out your entire day can change anything and everything in your life. I am talking about the smallest things too. Which red lights you hit or miss (or run) when driving somewhere. How many times you hit the snooze button in the morning. Which train you decide to take on your way to work. Each little choice puts you at a different spot at a different time. This can make a noticeable difference like in the linked story. Suppose she didn't answer the phone? Or what if the person who called had dialed the right number in the first place?

For what ever reason this has been on my mind a lot lately. You remember the woman that was killed in that rest stop a year or two ago? Her last name was Zapp I think. What are the choices that she made during the day that put her at that rest stop at that exact time when that fucking psycho was working at the Burger King? What if she didn't hit a red light somewhere on the way? Would that 1 minute time difference waiting for the light to turn change everything? For that matter what are the choices that put him there at that rest stop at that exact time. It really boggles my mind at the endless possibilities.

Another more recent example is the horrible killings in Florida. Where they went in with baseball bats and bashed in 6 peoples heads? What are the circumstances and choices that all these people involved made beforehand. The choices that put them all in that spot and place in time? One girl was watching her grandparents house. If they never bought the house that would have changed everything. On a more realistic note if the probation officers had done their job it never would have happened either. It is a giant ripple effect. It goes out and back through time. It hits each person involved and all the people they interacted with and then all the people they dealt with. Including all the red lights they did or did not make.

Peace out and answer the phone (or not)

It's funny cause it's true....

Today's (8/21) Get Fuzzy kicks ass. I think this is one of the most consistently funny strips in a long time. I think it is right up there with Calvin & Hobbes and The FarSide.

I read it everyday. So should you.

Peace out.

License and registration please.....

So last night was the championship game of the corporate softball league. It is always a good time. Every Wednesday night during the summer we head over to Moakley Park in South Boston. We drink beers, play softball and have fun. Eaton Vance won in a low scoring game 11-7. After each game most of the teams head over to The Black Thorn over on E.Broadway. This night was no different. We headed to the bar for pizza and more beer. We get the pizza from a place a couple doors down from the bar. It is cool because usually the bar will buy a number of pizzas. They do this because during the softball season Wednesday nights brings a lot of people to the bar. I am sure any other Wednesday is dead inside. (By the way this pizza is usually the hottest pizza ever, burn your face off hot). All in all it is a good time.

Last night was no different, it was fun, the beer was cold the pizza was hot and the team won. People started leaving around 9:30 or so and there was on guy left that needed a ride to the Red-line. I offered him the ride it was only a little bit out of my way. I headed towards Broadway Station and dropped him off at the corner. I bang a left and head for home. I come up to a light I see it change from green to yellow, from yellow to red. Now in my defense it turned red at a point where if I tried to stop then there would have been the shriek of brakes and I might have ended up in the middle of the intersection blah blah blah. I continue on and the next thing I see are more lights. Only these are blue, flashing and behind me. FUCK. This is really the last thing I need. I wasn't drunk at all not by a long shot but I had been drinking. I had about 5 beers along with the pizza. It is a good thing I did eat something. I pull over right away and hope he will continue right by me. No luck. It is me he wants. He pulls in behind me and gets out. The cop walks up to my window.

"License and Registration. Do you know why I pulled you over?"

"No, I do not."

"You didn't see the Red light?"

"I thought it was yellow at the time officer."

No, it was completely red. The guy in front of you went through it and then you. You were the last one through so I pulled you over.

I had given him my info and he walked back to his car. 10 minutes later he comes back with my citation. $100.00. Failure to stop at a light. Ah well it could have been worse. A DUI or speeding along with the red-light or a combination of all three. It kind of put a damper on an other wise good night.

There goes my step 9 at the RMV.

Peace out

21st Century Digital Boy

I have been pondering buying a digital camera for some time now. Taxachusetts was having a tax free day on just about any purchase under $2500.00. With that in mind I said today was as good as any other. So I headed off to BestBuy which opened at 10:00. I arrived at around 10:30 and the place was a zoo already. The parking lot was jammed full. The store was near bedlam. It was fucking chaos. People everywhere running pelmel up and down the aisles throwing this and that into their carts. The busiest areas were the computer dept, the TV/DVD/ etc and of course right where I was headed the camera dept. There were people three deep around all the camera counters. I looked around for the Cannon Powershot A80, which is the one I wanted. I finally found it, picked it up messed around with it on its extremely short security cord. I looked around at some others but came back to the Cannon Powershot. I decided that was the one for me. So after waiting a long time to get helped I made my purchase. I headed home and began playing with my new toy. So far I am happy. I just need to load the software and what not and I should be good to go. Welcome to the digital age.

Peace out.

Oh by the way I saved a whopping $20.00 on Tax Freeday. Fuck Yeah!

Very superstitious?

So today is Friday the 13th. I am not really a superstitious kind of person. Well for the most part anyway. I don't think I would intentionally break a mirror or anything like that. On the other hand I wouldn't worry about a black cat walking in front of me or if I walked under a ladder. (well I might think about it a little). I try not to step on cracks either, my dad already has a bad back I don't need to break my mother's. If I spill the salt I might throw some over the shoulder (just in case). I used to have a rabbit's foot because you never know when it might come in handy. Of course the rabbit probably needed it more than I do. If I am watching the sox game and someone is going for a no hitter, I will not talk about it. I won't point it out to who ever I am watching the game with. Keep quiet (you might jinx it). As if the baseball gods will hear me. (they will, they always do). Never light three of anything on one match. That is bad news. I don't smoke so I am safe on this one. There are plenty more. I guess I am more superstitious than I thought. So maybe I should stay in today. Hide under the covers. Better safe than sorry right? Why tempt fate?

Peace out

Hile Gunslinger

For all of you King (Gunslinger) junkies who read my blog. That would be you Scott. Check out this site if you already haven't.

Hile Gunslinger

Only seven more weeks until the final book comes out. There is an excerpt from it on King's official site. I haven't looked at it and I think I'll hold off. I want the whole thing.

Peace out.
